BENTON, Mo. -- The Rev. Charles H.A. Schmalle of West Alton, Missouri, has been named pastor of the St. Denis Catholic Church at Benton; he succeeds the Rev. Herman T. Macke, who a month ago was named pastor of the Guardian Angel Church at Oran, Missouri.
Following a meeting Monday night at Egypt Mills by the congregation of the Lutheran church to act further in the matter of releasing the Rev. A.M. Lohmann, it was decided to call a meeting of the Lutheran ministers of Cape Girardeau County to act as intermediaries in settling the question of Lohmann accepting the call of the Trinity Church congregation in Cape Girardeau; Trinity has sent two calls to Lohmann, but the Egypt Mills congregation has refused to lease their minister.
Ralph Ranney, son of the late Judge Robert G. Ranney of the Common Pleas Court, is believed by relatives to be on the battle front in France fighting the Huns from the air; Ranney is a gunner in the aerial service.
