Authorities say Cape Girardeau pilot Lars Andersson did an outstanding job of landing a disabled Piper twin-engine airplane at Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport last night; the plane's left wing and wheel assembly were damaged in the emergency landing, but none of the four passengers was injured.

Women as well as men tried their skills in a shooting match last night at Scivally Park; using 410-gauge shotguns, the top-scoring women were Mrs. Ben Gines, Bernice McKee and Mrs. Nelson Bueltemann; the only award in the men's division went to Ted R. Ingram, who used a 12-gauge shotgun.
Plans for more extensive improvements at the southwest corner of Broadway and Main Street are announced by V.J. Clemens, owner; a contract has been let for construction of three new shops on Broadway to take the place of shacks occupying the site when he purchased it; the building housing the shops will be a one-story brick structure and will connect with the corner building.
The Cape Girardeau Commercial Club has named a committee to help educate the public on the need for new school buildings here to relieve overcrowding: W.G. Bartels, Charles W. Stehr, M.D. Wilson, C.M. Freeman and E. Drusch.
Organizers of the Sikeston, Mo., fair are hopping mad; the aviator they engaged to make flying demonstrations there has failed to get off the ground; the same pilot was hired a year ago to give demonstrations here on the Fourth of July, but failed to fly.
