Southeast Missouri State University regents are expected to take initial steps at their meeting this week toward search for president of university; Dr. Robert E. Leestamper left post in July, and Dr. Bill W. Stacy is serving as interim president.

Creation of new, seven-acre lake to be located on undeveloped County Farm Park property south of Highway 61 and east of Memorial Park is in planning stages; there are already two lakes on developed County Farm Park property located north of Highway 61; creation of new lake would probably cost more than $20,000.

50 years ago: Sept. 25, 1954

Jackson's new fire truck was delivered yesterday, and several city employees gave it immediate tryout, driving it around and testing modern equipment on engine.

Missouri publishers, other leaders in field of journalism and long-time friends of publishers are special guests at dinner-meeting at Memorial Hall on State College campus in observance of 50th anniversary of publication of The Missourian by Naeter Brothers.

75 years ago: Sept. 25, 1929

Plans for complete park development and city beautification program, which has been in process of formation for several years, are announced by city council.

Two city lots have been deeded to Teachers College by Mr. and Mrs. R.B. Oliver Sr.; lots, located on east extension of Normal Avenue, were given in exchange for dumping of large amount of earth in ravine through which street is being extended.
