Officials with Missouri Pacific Systems in St. Louis are examining bids for the removal of 2.2 miles of abandoned railroad tracks in Cape Girardeau; the project calls for the removal of rails and ties from public rights of way and all public grade crossings along the abandoned stretch of track; the abandoned track and deteriorated roadbed have been blamed for several motorcycle accidents along Independence Street.

The new, much more powerful lighting system for Houck Stadium is still not up and football fans will have to watch tomorrow's game with Jacksonville State under the old lights; half of the new lights are ready, but in order to prevent uneven lighting for the game, it was decided to hold them all until the next home contest, Oct. 14, against Kirksville, Mo.
District WPA director C.L. Blanton of Sikeston, Mo., was impressed with the possibilities for development of the site of Fort D, commenting favorably on the project during his visit here Monday; Blanton visited the site with city and American Legion officials.
The Cape Girardeau Capahas will renew their rivalry with the Illmo-Fornfelt Big Bucks on Sunday at Fairground Park; in a game July 19 at Illmo, the Caps went down to a miserable defeat at the hands of Paul Bray 5-0; Bray will again be on the mound for the Bucks, while big Elam Vangilder may hurl for the Caps.
