Lueders, professional photographer in Cape Girardeau since 1933, has donated series of 12 large photographs to Concordia Historical Institute in St. Louis; photos were prepared in 1976 to commemorate Saxon heritage of Perry County for display to accompany Saxon Hills Heritage program presented by Southeast Missouri State University to highlight cultural heritage of area.

Southeast Missouri State University's second consecutive record on-campus enrollment for fall term totals 8,082; figure beats 8,000 total forecast by university officials last month before start of semester and exceeds by 143 students the previous fall term high of 7,939 registered year ago.
Foundations have been poured and brickwork is ready to start on two-story, four-room addition to Notre Dame High School which will provide new entrance to gymnasium and additional classroom and storage space; cost of addition will be $93,000.

By majority of 241 in heaviest vote ever cast in special election in Cape Girardeau, voters yesterday approved continuation of sale of liquor by the drink; with 5,115 ballots turned in exclusive of absentee ones, vote was 2,678 for retention of liquor by the drink, and 2,437 against; under law, matter of liquor by the drink can't be submitted to voters again for four years.
Oran - Mayor Abram Hirschowitz says, "We have just begun to fight" in battle to keep big natural gas utility company out of Oran; he calls emergency city council meeting for Monday night; Associated Gas Co. of Sikeston is trying to lay gas pipeline through Oran; Hirschowitz wants town to install municipally-owned system.
75 years ago: Sept. 22, 1926
At least 150 members of Missouri Press Association, with dozen or more distinguished guests who will appear on program, will arrive in Cape Girardeau tomorrow evening; they will arrive aboard steamer Cape Girardeau, with Capt. William "Buck" Leyhe in command; big, three-day press meeting will hold sessions at State College, New Broadway Theater and Common Pleas Courthouse.
Cape Girardeau Boy Scout Council will form its own separate organization and will secure scout executive to have charge of work in this city alone, it was decided at meeting of council last night; this will necessitate withdrawal of local council from Miss-Cape-Scott area, with which it has been affiliated two years.
