The Rev. Louis L. Pabor, former pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, is guest preacher at services this weekend as members of Trinity continue to mark the dedication of their new church facilities.
The Flaming Pit, 2121 William St. in Cape Girardeau, has changed hands; John Miller purchased the restaurant from Edward J. Radetic; the building, owned by James Tlapek of Cape Girardeau and Nick Bruckerhoff of St. Mary, Mo., is being leased by the new owner.
Hundreds of hogs in Cape Girardeau and adjoining counties are perishing, and entire herds are being decimated by an outbreak of diseases, one of which may be a variant strain of hog cholera; around 400 head have died in recent weeks.

Elam Vangilder, who is now with the Indianapolis club of the American Association, was the starting pitcher in the first game with Milwaukee on Sunday; he hurled seven innings, allowing only four hits; Indianapolis won the first game, 3-2, but Vangilder wasn't credited with it as he was losing 2-0 when he left the game.
Sallie McLain and daughter of Cape Girardeau have gone to visit the former's brother, Dr. A.W. Thompson of Mineral Wells, Texas, a former Cape Girardeau boy; Thompson is practicing medicine and owns a large bath house at the springs there.
Nora Wilson, proprietor of the most popular boarding house in Cape Girardeau, has moved her establishment to the Martin Hotel building at the corner of Broadway and Sprigg Street; she had conducted a boarding house at Spanish and Independence streets for some time.
