After a weekend of moving and unpacking, many Southeast Missouri State University students are back in the classroom for the first day of classes of the 1987-1988 school year; more than 8,000 students are expected to enroll for classes during the fall semester.

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. -- A Cape Girardeau player, Mike Busch, enlivened the 17th International Jaycee Junior Golf Tournament Wednesday with a hole-in-one; he shot an 82 total for the first round, which was led by Jim Wiechers of Atherton, Calif., with a 69; Busch, 17, sank the first hole-in-one in tournament history on the 14th hole of the Spring Valley Country Club.
Ignored by rain clouds for three weeks, Cape Girardeau County is stricken with dehydrated crops, pastures and lawns, dry stream beds, low ponds and lots of dust.
Thirteen pirates and six Chinese princes from the Cape Girardeau Jaycees will be included in the cast of 600 people for "Arabian Nights," to be presented Sept. 14 to 16 at Houck Field Stadium; they were chosen at a meeting of the Jaycees last night at Colonial Tavern.

The program at the Grand Theater for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be of great interest to Cape Girardeans; the unusually large program will be headed by singer Edyth Vorbeck, a Cape Girardeau girl who has just returned home from a successful season on the road with the Emery company.
