MOREHOUSE, Mo. - Approval of permanent location of Highway 61 on proposed west route was voiced by Julien N. Friant here last night at weekly meeting of West Route Association; meeting was attended by more than 100 residents of district towns; Friant says western route seems to him to be favored over eastern or Kingshighway route in point of greater directness, water level, economy of construction, benefits to residents who now have no road, and adding to taxable wealth of New Madrid and Scott counties.

Contract for grading and bridging of nine-mile stretch of Highway 61 in immediate vicinity of Cape Girardeau has been awarded on joint bid of $215,091 to Service Construction Co., of Poplar Bluff and Richmond Construction Co., of Advance.
