The Cape Girardeau municipal swimming pool is having its best year since 1959, showing a 50 percent increase in cash receipts over last year at this midsummer point; Park Commissioner J.W. McBride believes the combination of a 5-cent increase of children's admission and the consistently high temperatures this year are responsible for the increase.

CAIRO, Ill. -- At least 20 people arrested during tense integration demonstrations at a private skating rink and swimming pool in Cairo last week will appear in court tomorrow on charges ranging from inciting mob action to peace disturbance.

1937

The third of the summer series of union religious services sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance is held in the evening at Centenary Methodist Church; the speaker is the Rev. R.M. Talbert, secretary for the Southeast Missouri District of Christian Churches.

A big crowd of about 4,000 people attends the celebration at the CCC camp near Delta marking the second anniversary of the establishment of the camp; the program for the day includes religious services, a demonstration by the Cape Girardeau American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps, outdoor athletic contests, and a billiard match.

1912

The Whittington Stock Co., said to be one of the largest dramatic shows on the road, will open a week's engagement on the Whitelaw lot Monday night; it will present a play never seen here: "For Another's Sin."

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Coerver of Olathe, Colo., arrive on the Frisco in the evening, too late to attend the funeral of Mrs. Coerver's father, Leon J. Albert.
