Cape Girardeau County youth, a boat employee, is critically burned when Mississippi River towboat explodes while loading near Arkansas City, Ark.; he is Roy Terry, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Terry of Moccasin Springs, near Egypt Mills.
75 years ago: July 18, 1929
Two men are arrested and 50-gallon still, gallon of whisky and 150 gallons of mash are seized by federal prohibition agents in raid 10 miles north of Cape Girardeau; men are charged with having possession of liquor, manufacturing whisky and having possession of still; both are farmers of Oriole community.
Concrete is poured for roof of new condensery of Mid-Continent Dairy Products Co.; building will be completed within few weeks, and company will then be ready for operation.
