Pollack Hide & Fur Co. and Pollack Steel Supply Inc. have become Sides Steel Supply and Metal Recycling; Sydney Pollack has sold the businesses to William J. Sides, who has been associated with the operation since 1976.

The SEMO District Fair may get an upgrade in its plans to build a permanent conservation exhibition building at Arena Park; the Missouri-Pacific Railroad has tentatively promised the board the stone in the burned-out depot at Independence and Middle streets; the stone would be used in the construction of the conservation building and would cost the board almost nothing.
The cross-state Ozark Saddle Trail, running from Trail of Tears State Park in Cape Girardeau County to the Oklahoma line, will have two starting routes in this county; the trail in this county would consist of a ride in itself, connecting with the westward trail at two points on the Bollinger County line.
Although 150 workers spent all of Sunday afternoon on the job, they didn't get over half of the projected census of Cape Girardeau completed; members of First Baptist Church, who are taking the survey, plan to stay at the task until it is done; the survey includes counting and classifying the names as to church preference, ages and church affiliation.
Chief of police E.W. Hirsch and Mayor Edward L. Drum warn youngsters they should refrain from using sidewalks as places on which to roller skate and ride bicycles; numerous complaints have been made by pedestrians.
Around 1,000 youngsters participate in the children's parade in the morning, marching around the downtown streets for an hour before disbanding at the courthouse square; the parade is one of the features of the big Southeast Missouri Drummers' Association meeting here, which furnishes each child with a noise maker for the parade; tonight's feature will be a minstrel show at the Normal School auditorium.
Dr. and Mrs. A. List return home from Columbia, Missouri, where they saw their son, Edgar G. List, graduate from the state university with a degree in electrical engineering.
