Although they didn't score runs at the rate they normally do, the Kohlfeld Capahas of Cape Girardeau still managed to win two baseball games with host Festus, Mo., yesterday; in the process, the Caps tied their all-time modern-day record for most consecutive victories with 22; the Caps are now 22-0 under manager Jess Bolen, tying the mark of Bolen's 1971 club.

Lester Harris has opened Harris Shoe Repair at 75 Plaza Way; Harris has 12 years' experience in the shoe repair business.

50 years ago: June 30, 1961

William D. Sisco announces the association with him of his son, Billy Sisco, in Sisco's Professional Barber Service at its new location at 729 Broadway; the younger man recently graduated from Moler Barber College in St. Louis.

Robert Moore, acting station manager for Ozark Airlines at the Cape Girardeau municipal airport, advises that tomorrow Ozark will begin offering a new morning connecting flight for the earliest and fastest service to New York, Washington, D.C., and Miami via Nashville.

75 years ago: June 30, 1936

Forecasting a possible end to an extended dry spell and bringing relief from the extreme heat, a heavy rainstorm strikes Cape Girardeau early in the afternoon; it's an old-fashioned downpour that makes Broadway and other downtown streets virtual rivers.

Taps sounded last night for one of the last of the Cape Girardeau County veterans of the Civil War; Frederick Hahn, 94, a veteran of many major engagements of the strife between the North and South and of Sherman's memorable march, died at the home of his daughter, Rosa Haupt, in Egypt Mills.

100 years ago: June 30, 1911

The passing of the towboat Pacific No. 2 yesterday drew considerable attention, having in tow a partially built, unnamed packet boat; inquiries elicited the information that the new craft was the Spread Eagle, just off the construction docks at Jeffersonville, Ind., where it was built for the Eagle Packet Co. of St. Louis.

The Stoll property on Bellevue and Ellis streets is being put into readiness for occupancy for Benson C. Hardesty; his mother and sister will be here from Brooklyn, N.Y., next week to make a home for him.
