Preparations for Fourth of July celebration, to which all Southeast Missouri will be invited, are being made by Missouri National Guard units of Cape Girardeau; admission to park will be free, and concessions will be operated by members of Guard; among features of day will be beauty contest, baseball game, and dancing to Harger Orchestra.
Kennett - Aid of national government in curbing turbulent waters of St. Francis River to protect hundreds of thousands of acres of farmlands from its periodical overflows, is sought in resolution adopted at mass meeting, at which St. Francis River Flood Control Association is organized; U.S. Sen. Joe Robinson tells gathering he has prepared measure which would provide for immediate federal jurisdiction over Mississippi River and its tributaries, and for replacing of present levee system out of funds on hand.
