Members of Central High School's baseball team are state champions; the team edges St. Louis University High, 4-2, in the title game at Busch Stadium.

Among the 17 midshipmen from Missouri who will be graduated and commissioned from the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., Wednesday are several from this area: Charles E. 75 years ago: June 2, 1937

E. French Gallagher is appointed chairman of a special committee to raise funds for the purchase of a lot and construction of a new Salvation Army building here; options have been taken on lots on South Spanish Street and South Main Street in the block in which St. Vincent's Church is located.

Summer term enrollment at Teachers College is climbing towards a new record, after the 1936 mark was passed yesterday; at noon, enrollment reaches 874, and scores of additional students are expected the remainder of the week.

100 years ago: June 2, 1912

The Rev. Frank Y. Campbell, pastor, delivers the sermon at the evening service of First Baptist Church at the Hippodrome; a large chorus leads the singing; there is instrumental music also, with Frieda Rieck favoring the audience with a violin solo.

The big grandstand at the fairgrounds was packed yesterday afternoon to see the races and other events that were pulled off during the picnic given by the employees of the Roberts, Johnson & Rand shoe factory; it was one of the best picnics ever given here.
