Coming of hot weather has raised average daily water consumption in Cape Girardeau approximately one-third over average for winter months of year; water consumption is about 1.3 million gallons daily; favorite way to cool off for area residents is municipal swimming pool at Fairground Park; total of 1,241 people have paid to swim there since pool opened in May.
