The Rev. Kim F. Ferguson has accepted the pastorate at Bethel Assembly of God in Cape Girardeau; he comes here from Advance, Mo., where he was pastor since 1978.

The Rev. Wally Shearburn, associate pastor of Bellefontaine United Methodist Church in North St. Louis County, has been named to head the Wesley Foundation at Southeast Missouri State University.

50 years ago: June 13, 1957

Between 30 and 50 college students and high school graduates in the Cape Girardeau area will depart Monday aboard two chartered buses for a summer of work in food processing plants in Minnesota, Wisconsin and northern Illinois; arrangements for the summer work program were made by the Missouri State Employment Service here.

James and Orville Warner, operators of a filling station at 1001 Broadway in Cape Girardeau, won in the seventh annual appearance and cleanliness contest conducted by Standard Oil Co., for 975 dealers in its St. Louis division.

75 years ago: June 13, 1932

A supply of 300,000 of the new 3-cent stamps for distribution from the Cape Girardeau post office has been ordered by C.M. Stout, assistant postmaster.

The total enrollment at Teachers College for the summer term climbs to 900; among those enrolled in the morning are Louise Robins, who has been teaching in Webster Groves, Mo.; Jennie Meyer, who has just finished a term in Florissant, Mo.; Mamie Reed of Ellington, Mo., Louise Eamon, teacher in Morley, Mo.; Frank A. Phillips of Bellevue, Mo., and Antoinette Meyer, graduate student.

100 years ago: June 13, 1907

Amanda Kuss, one of the oldest and most respected residents of Dutchtown, dies at the home of her son, Henry Kuss, who lives about two miles out on the Bloomfield road; Kuss, 68, is survived by three children, Mrs. Conrad Seimers, Charles Kuss and Henry Kuss.

D.P. Bailey, who has been traffic manager for the Houck railroad line for a long time, has been made general freight and passenger agent for the Missouri River Transportation and Steamship Co., the new concern that will operate a line of boats on the Missouri River from St. Louis to Kansas City.
