A late model automobile parked on a loading ramp at Honker's Boat Dock apparently slipped out of gear and rolled into the Mississippi River Thursday night; the mishap occurred when the owner, Lloyd L. Dillman was attempting to load the boat onto a trailer.

The Southeast Missouri Baseball Conference All-Star team boasts four players each from Cape Girardeau Central High and Notre Dame High schools; from Central are Kermit Meystedt, Alan Kesterson, Greg Brune and Jim Reid; from Notre Dame are John Clayton, Mike Bader, Jim Glastetter and Ken Ressel; rounding out the team are Doug Steimle of Chaffee, Mo., and Ron Randall of Jackson.

First production operations begin at the new factory of the Superior Electric Products Corp. in Cape Girardeau; about 25 persons are on the job; the first work consists of stamping out parts for electric stoves.

Wayne Goddard, star tackle on the Teachers College football team last year, announces he has signed a contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers of the National Professional Football League; he will report in August and will train with the squad at Farmingdale, Long Island.

All is ready for the big Lincoln McConnell evangelization meeting that will begin tomorrow evening; a large tabernacle has been built to comfortably hold the expected crowds that will come to hear the noted speaker.

Mrs. Amalia Haman, mother of Robert and Phillip Haman, died yesterday; she was born in Germany on July 4, 1843, and came to the U.S. with her brother when a small girl; after living several years in New York, she moved to Cape Girardeau where she married twice; her first husband, Phillip Haman, died about 26 years ago; she then married his brother, Christ Haman.
