The vacated former Amaco service station at Broadway and Harmony Street has been purchased by R.K. Cutsinger; plans for use of the building are yet preliminary, Cutsinger says.

Missouri Utilities Co. is planning a $250,000 propane gas installation in the south part of Cape Girardeau to supplement its supply of natural gas during severe winter weather; construction of the plant west of Beaudean Lane is contingent upon the Planning and Zoning Commission and the city council approving a change in zoning for the area.
Right of way for the new interstate highway through Cape Girardeau County is to be acquired in the fiscal year beginning July 1; it is estimated that half of the necessary land for the 14.1-mile route through the county will be procured during the year.
75 years ago: May 22, 1933
Two hundred forty members of the government's conservation corps are to be inducted into duty in Cape Girardeau this week; the young men will come from Cape Girardeau, Bollinger, Scott, Mississippi and New Madrid counties; they will be sent at once, if found fit for service, to Jefferson Barracks for two weeks of preparatory work.
With each case providing some new controversial point, Circuit Court Judge Frank Kelly continues the hearing of claims against the closed Sturdivant Bank, those appearing asking that their claims be given preference over general depositors and that they be paid in full.
100 years ago: May 22, 1908
Jeptha Riggs, assistant teacher of English at the Normal School, has been given a one-year leave of absence in order that to take a special course at Chicago University.
Capahas manager Chris Goldbaum has received the new uniforms for his team; they are beauties, pure white; the boys read that Mark Twain parades in pure white clothes and decided the idea would be good for all Missourians to follow.
