Using an 11-hit attack, the Notre Dame High School baseball team defeated the Senath-Hornersville Lions, 12-2 Friday, in a five-inning Class 2A quarterfinal contest.

Salary increases were granted all members of the staff at State College by the board of regents yesterday; in other action, the board appointed Ellwood Pollefson dean of student personnel.

Passage of a bond issue Tuesday for $700,000 to build a new school and care for other construction needs brought to $3,559,000 the amount of bonds or special levies approved by Cape Girardeau residents in the 12-year period since the end of World War II.

Commencement activities at the Teachers College begin with baccalaureate services in the college auditorium in the morning; Dr. Joseph A. Serena, president of the college, delivers the baccalaureate sermon on "The New Day."

The body of the Rev. Eberhard Pruente, longtime pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, who died last Sept. 25, was removed yesterday from the temporary grave in St. Mary's Cemetery to the crypt in the memorial being erected in the center of the graveyard; the base of the memorial contains two crypts, one for the priest and the other for his sister; above the base, a 15-foot crucifix in Bedford stone will be erected.

The 35th annual commencement exercises of the Normal School are held in the morning; Rabbi Harrison of St. Louis gives a stimulating address on the "Greatness of Labor."

Post office officials are negotiating with the owners of the Himmelberger-Harrison Building in an effort to rent the back of the store room in that building as the post office; the present location of the post office is too crowded and cramped to accommodate the business properly.
