Almost 75 percent of those responding to a Missourian reader poll favor locating the Cape Girardeau multipurpose building on the west side of the city near Interstate 55; of that majority, 40.6 percent support a 30-acre site just south of Howard Johnson Motor Lodge on the west side of I-55, while 29.7 percent favor a tract on the northeast corner of U.S. 61 and I-55.
Republican candidate for state representative here, Kevin E. Phillips, is proposing a countywide vote on the location of the Cape Girardeau multipurpose building.
LUTESVILLE, Mo. -- Voters in the Woodland School District will vote Tuesday on a $348,000 bond issue that will determine whether a classroom building now under construction will stand alone or be expanded to provide additional opportunities for the high school -- and later, elementary -- pupils of the district.
