Order to "cease and desist" from carrying television signals of three St. Louis network stations on Jackson Cable TV system has been issued by Federal Communications Commission review board; but officials of Jackson firm, whose officers and principal stockholders also own Cape County Cable TV, which has franchise right to put system in Cape Girardeau, say they won't remove disputed signals.

Roadmaster for Missouri Pacific Railroad Lines has completed inspection of all street intersections of spur line serving industries on west end as result of request by city that crossings be upgraded for traffic; spur has been continuing problem for both city and railroad.

While going through some old papers at his office last week, R.B. Oliver Jr. found original enlistment contract and oath for first National Guard unit organized in Cape Girardeau; names of 50 men are on list; military organization was Co. K, 6th Battalion, National Guard of Missouri.

Long-established Jefferson School Girl Scout troop had its final outing before disbanding Saturday afternoon; 15 girls in Troop 19, taking their lunches along, caught 12:21 Frisco train to Chaffee; there they spread their picnic in Circle Park; troop will cease to function hereafter, because Jefferson School is to be abandoned under school reorganization program to become effective next fall.

75 years ago: May 10, 1928

Negotiations which have been in progress for some time culminates in formal transfer of ownership of American Gauze & Cotton Co. by Harrison Securities, Inc., of Cape Girardeau to Maurice L. Stern and associates of Joliet, Ill; new owner expects to reside in Cape Girardeau and plans to expand business considerably.

Fire of unknown origin destroys large barn at country place of Dr. H.L. Cunningham on Bloomfield road, southwest of Cape Girardeau, causing estimated $3,000 damage; feed valued at $500 is destroyed, and two small calves are burned to death in fire.
