Cape Girardeau County Presiding Commissioner Gene Huckstep says a special finance committee to explore methods of financing a $73 million recreational lake in Cape and Bollinger counties could be appointed by May.

County jails in the Cape Girardeau area, including the one at Jackson, are off the government approved list for prisoners held on federal charges, says U.S. Marshal William B. Fahy; why the Jackson jail was held improper for housing federal prisoners isn't stated, but it is presumed it is because of the building's old-time construction and generally bad conditions as to sanitation, light, etc.
Easter Sunday. Morning services for the congregation of Centenary Methodist Church are held at the Normal School auditorium; 50 new members are received into the church.
Easter services are conducted in the German language in the morning at Trinity Lutheran Church; the class which was confirmed last Sunday receives Holy Communion for the first time.
