A dramatic musical presentation by Larry Mayfield -- "Can It Be?" -- is presented by the Sanctuary Choir of First Baptist Church in Jackson in the evening; soloists for the production are Bruce Dockins, Darlene James, Judy Johnson and Beverly Goskie; narrator is David Britt, and Jesus is portrayed by David Wells.
TAMMS, Ill. -- Since it was passed in 1978, the Tamms dog-control ordinance has had more bark than bite; however, according to Mayor George Croft, strict enforcement of the ordinance will begin Friday; a growing problem with dogs at-large in the village has prompted the action, says Croft.
The resignation of the Jackson Public Library Board was accepted yesterday by the city council; the nine-member board resigned in a group because of a recently passed state law limiting library board members to three-year terms.
First National Bank will close at noon Saturday to enable employees to begin the move of the bank's equipment, files and other physical effects from the present building in the 100 block of North Main Street to its new quarters at the northwest corner of Main Street and Broadway; the bank will open for business in its new location on Monday.
A representative group of women of the First Christian Church has voted to form a churchwide organization to be called the Christian Women's Council; this group will include all other women's organization of the congregation and will also take in women friends of the church.
Dr. H.W. Olson returns from Stevens Point, Wis., where he represented the Eta Chapter of the Sigma Zeta science fraternity of the Teachers College as delegate to the National Conclave; through his influence, the 1932 conclave will be held in Cape Girardeau.
Work has begun on another big building on Broadway, just west of the Bergmann-Bartels Store; Gustav Schultz is having built a three-story, brick building measuring 26 by 80 feet; the first and second floors have been leased by a local company, and the third floor will be made into a lodge hall.
Officials with the street railway system announce that a connecting line will soon be built on Spanish Street, between Broadway and Independence; the Broadway line will be given another connection with the Main Street line.
