Bent Creek on the Green will showcase its condominium development in March; Mike Litzelfelner of Litz Bros., Inc., says one building has been completed and second is under construction.

U.S. District Judge H. Kenneth Wangelin urged 32 Boy Scouts honored yesterday at 18th annual Eagle Scout Court of Honor to follow through with leadership they have shown in Scouting; Wangelin, Poplar Bluff native who attained rank of Eagle as a boy, pointed out that two recently elected governors and many other government officials have come from Southeast Missouri.

Proposal to initiate federal program which would provide food for undernourished women, infants and children in Cape Girardeau County is presented to county court; upon hearing details of plan, titled Women, Infants, Children (WIC) National Program, court asks that proposal be put before Cape Girardeau County Health Board, so that it may make recommendation on whether it should be initiated.

50 years ago: Feb. 27, 1953

A $700,000 Greater Cape Girardeau Catholic High School became definite last night, when division chairmen, making their second reports of campaign for funds, brought additional $49,897, bringing amount now pledged toward building to $273,808; Archbishop John E. Ritter of St. Louis, at start of campaign, told two Cape Girardeau parishes, St. Mary's and St. Vincent's, that if they raised $250,000 contract would be let and building placed under construction.

State Senate survey of judicial circuits, with eye to equalizing workload of state's judges, probably would result in no changes in court setup in Cape Girardeau and surrounding counties, say local attorneys.

75 years ago: Feb. 27, 1928

That Frisco Railroad is continuing its opposition to extension of lines of Missouri Pacific into Cape Girardeau is indicated in information reaching here that Frisco attorneys have filed legal briefs with Public Service Commission, questioning right of commission to pass on application of Missouri Pacific.

T.E. Statler, Sunset Boulevard, plans to begin construction soon on new seven-room brick house on Lacy Street in Sunset Terrace district; house will be story and a half in height and have full basement and concrete front porch.
