Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau is expected to crest 2 feet above flood stage on Sunday; no serious flooding occurs at that stage, but rising river has stopped construction of new section of Fayville levee near Olive Branch, Ill.

Cape Girardeau and area is buried under record two-foot snowfall; late winter blizzard, worst of this century for this part of country, virtually paralyzes large portion of Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois; blizzard dwarfs snow of 1917-1918.

Cape Girardeau County Court and Cape Girardeau city officials issue orders prohibiting opening of non-essential businesses and limiting traffic to emergency or essential services only; similar order is issued in Scott County.

BENTON, Mo. -- Voters of 10 school districts in east-central Scott County will vote Tuesday on reorganization of districts into one.
