A Buddhist memorial service for Japan's late emperor, Hirohito, is being planned for Saturday at the home of Dr. Clark Choffy, a Southeast Missouri State University professor and Buddhist priest; Choffey will perform the service, assisted by another Buddhist priest, Genichi Okuyama, who is coming here from Tokyo.
Jerry and Ruth Lipps of Cape Girardeau have pledged $100,000 to Southeast Missouri State University; $10,000 will assist plans for the university's affiliation with National Public Radio and another $10,000 will go toward the endowment of an entrepreneurship-small business option in the College of Business and Public Administration.
State College will be without the services of leading scorer Don Ringstaff tonight, when the Indians close out their Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association campaign at Rolla; Ringstaff suffered some torn ligaments in his leg in a collision Monday during the Maryville game.

A staff of six investigators -- four women and two men -- are surveying Works Progress Administration employees in Cape Girardeau County to determine their individual needs for such employment.
A.L. Clay plans to open his Pala-Dora dining and dance hall at 624 Broadway tomorrow evening, although a formal opening won't be held until March; the building was formerly occupied by the Publix Cleaning Co.; Mrs. Maggie Brown will be in charge of the Pala-Dora.
"Go-to-Church-Sunday" is observed at all the churches in Cape Girardeau, where the doors stand wide to welcome all; the day is judged a great success, with probably 500 persons in churches at some time during the day who hadn't seen the inside of church for some time.
W.S. Dearmont, president of the Normal School here, was elected president of the North Central Council of State Normal School Presidents, at the annual meeting of that organization in Chicago this week.
