Five members of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity at Southeast Missouri State University have been charged with involuntary manslaughter in hazing death of man pledging fraternity; Michael Davis, 25, of St. Louis, died at St. Francis Hospital Tuesday of blunt force trauma to head.

City of Cape Girardeau has been awarded $449,630 in federal highway funds by Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission that will be used for development of recreational trail along Cape LaCroix Creek.

Southeast Missouri Hospital will offer Cape Girardeau area new helicopter ambulance service beginning March 1, announces hospital administrator O.D. Niswonger.

College of Humanities of Southeast Missouri State University yesterday honored Dr. Jennie C. Frye of English faculty for excellence in teaching.

State College President W.W. Parker says he is firmly opposed to creation of "superboard" of regents to supervise five state colleges; Parker says plan would leave present boards of regents "somewhat functionless."

75 years ago: Feb. 17, 1929

Arrangements are being made for celebration on May 26 of 75th anniversary of founding of Trinity Lutheran Church; the Rev. F.H. Melzer, pastor, has prepared elaborate history of congregation, which will contain number of photos and complete review of church's history.

Women's Missionary Society of Third Street Methodist Church has assumed debt of church parsonage and is liquidating this through regular building and loan installments.
