Dr. Karl L. Barth, president of Concordia Seminary, visited Cape Girardeau this week, meeting with 15 Cape Girardeau and area Lutheran pastors; Barth was named president of the seminary in July 1982.
After a million or more snips, Ed Unger is putting away his hair clippers and razor and retiring from the barber profession; Unger began barbering in 1935 on Main Street; he has been associated with several shops virtually all over Cape Girardeau.
With the extended cold temperatures, young people in the area continue to have fun skating on the lagoon at Capaha Park; there is no immediate break foreseen for the weather.
The Cape Girardeau Dental Society, through cooperation of the school board, has voted to conduct a program whereby the teeth of children in the entire Cape Girardeau public school system will be examined; participating in the examinations, which begin today, are Drs. Richard Brown, Dan Cotner, George Farrar, H.L. Wohlwend, L.S. Bunch, Del Brunton, A.J. Rasche and V. Paul Grisham.

Coach Olaf Robinson, commenting on Central High School's showing Saturday at Desloge, Mo., says that while he missed the playing of Morris Gaines, forward and leading Tiger scorer, he was pleased with the his substitute, Charles Temple; Gains was absent because of illness.
Dr. William Porter of St. Louis lectured to a crowd of between 300 and 400 people at the Normal School auditorium last night; the subject of his talk was tuberculosis, its effects and preventive measures.
H.H. Haas of St. Louis has purchased an interest in the St. Charles Pharmacy, Dr. M. Rosenthal retiring; J. Fred Bond will retain his interest but Haas will be in charge of the place.
