A proposed ordinance has been drafted by the Cape Girardeau Police Department aimed at ending Broadway's weekend congestion; the ordinance would prohibit vehicles from turning around in private driveways or parking lots on Broadway.

Robert M. Moore, a former Girardean who for more than 30 years was prominent in Democratic politics in Washington, D.C., died early yesterday; at the time of his death, Moore, 63, was the director of rural postal appointments with the U.S. Post Office Department.
A severe wind and rain storm, accompanied by hail and lightning, struck Southeast Missouri overnight, with Perryville, Mo., bearing the brunt of the storm; a sister of the St. Vincent's order at Perryville was injured when a frame porch on which she was sleeping at the rear of the cloister was swept away by the wind.
