Science and home economics equipment for new high school costing $19,418.95 was contracted for on low bid of three opened by Board of Education at business-crammed meeting last night; bid was that of Sheldon Co. of St. Louis for tables, demonstration centers and aquarium to be used in chemistry, general science, physics and biology labs and for kitchen units to be placed in home economics department.
City Council yesterday passed ordinance designating nine official city weighers for all coal sold in Cape Girardeau; ordinance amends 1933 ordinance and points out weighers named in that statute have gone out of business.

Bids for construction of traffic bridge across Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau are opened by officials of bridge company at St. Louis, but definite announcement as to lowest bidder won't be made until Monday.
Central High School debaters won opening contest in Missouri high school debating league by vanquishing Illmo team last night; Jack Knehans and William Harrison had affirmative of question, "Resolved: That adherence of the United States to the permanent Court of International Justice (World Court) under conditions approved by the United States Senate on Jan. 27, 1926, is a wise public policy."
