The fourth annual Festival of Trees raised $8,000 for WISER Inc., which operates the women's safe house in Cape Girardeau; more than 100 people last night bid on the 20 decorated trees as well as many wreaths and centerpieces during the fundraiser.

The Jackson City Council is considering a proposal that would lead to the establishment of a branch plant of Lee-Rowan Co.; city officials have proposed that the city will vote on a bond issue to build a plant for the company, and that rent on the building would retire the bonds.

Henry F. Mueller, 84, a retired farmer and for many years leader of bands in Pocahontas and New Wells, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.C. Landgraf, at Pocahontas yesterday.
For a few years, W.H. The Highland Park Real Estate Co. was recently organized in Fornfelt by William H. Tanner, Murray Q. Tanner and Lyman Bowman of Sikeston, Mo., and Edward Schriefer and James A. Finch of Fornfelt; the corporation will lay out new subdivisions to both Illmo and Fornfelt.
