Another of the candidates who failed to win election to a Cape Girardeau City Council seat last April has entered the race for two council seats to be filled next spring; Peter F. Daniels Jr., a production manner for Procter & Gamble Paper Products Co., Friday became the third candidate.

STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. -- A National Park Service study team will visit Ste. Genevieve in mid-January to evaluate the historical significance of the community; the original site of the town will be evaluated as well as structures in the existing town as candidates for association with the National Park Service.

Rain continued to pour on Cape Girardeau through the night and into this morning; a total of 3.14 inches of rain has fallen in the past four days.

The Rev. W. Clark Elizey, assistant pastor and educational director of Centenary Methodist Church, preaches in the morning at Third Street Methodist Church; his subject is "The Little Things of Life"; Centenary's pastor, the Rev. H.L. Taylor, preaches at Hobbs Chapel.

The Rev. Robert L. Harrell, pastor-elect of First Christian Church, is expected to arrive in Cape Girardeau Tuesday with his family.

100 years ago: Dec. 29, 1904

Floating ice is again filling the river; it begins to come down at about 8 in the morning; the bay is halfway frozen over.

J.W. Pierce and daughter, Laura, of near Jackson, are in city on their way home from a visit to Commerce, Mo.
