Five candidates have filed for city council election to be held next April; included in most recent filings are incumbent Councilman Howard C. Tooke and challengers Timothy L. Kelley and Franklin H. Myers; Donald R. Strohmeyer and Larry F.M. Grey filed earlier in November.

R. Clinton Construction Co. of Sikeston, which won contract for construction of gymnasium-auditorium and classroom building at Oak Ridge, hopes to start work before first of the year.

Highway 61 between Festus and Jackson will be "moved" to present route of state Highway 25, according to State Highway Commission.

Hal Lynch, architect for First Presbyterian Church's new Sunday School building on site east of present building on Broadway, will be in Cape Girardeau Tuesday.

New pipe organ, replacing one which has been in service 50 years, is being installed in St. Mary's Church; new instrument is Wicks organ.
