Paul L. Ebaugh, a Cape Girardeau banker, has been confirmed by the Missouri Senate as a member of the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission; Ebaugh will serve a six-year term.
Two more people filed for open seats on the Cape Girardeau City Council shortly before the deadline yesterday; Billy D. Mize, 54, and David W. Barklage, 22, became the seventh and eighth candidates to file.

Incoming members of the Missouri House, nearing the end of an extensive two-week tour of state institutions, spend 1 1/2 hours on the State College campus, taking a quick view of new construction and seeking answers to questions; featured on the tour are construction work on the science, women's physical education, practical arts and dormitory buildings.
Safe crackers, who have been molesting business places in the district on recent nights, are busy again; they open a safe in the A.E. James store in Zalma, Mo., stealing about $100 in cash.
75 years ago: Dec. 10, 1933
Twenty-five men were put to work yesterday on the first Teachers College project approved under the Civil Works Administration; the work involves the improvement of the athletic field on the tract overlooking Houck Field House, where the tennis courts and hockey grounds are.
Two members of the Billy Sunday party fill engagements in local churches in the morning; Harry Clarke, song leader, speaks at First Christian Church, and Florence Kinney, accompanist, gives a talk at New McKendree Methodist Church at Jackson.
100 years ago: Dec. 10, 1908
There are numerous houses under construction in different parts of Cape Girardeau; W.H. Harrison has begun work on two at North and Frederick streets; two more houses will be built by Harrison on adjoining lots.
Word is received from the supervising architect at Washington that a side entrance will be provided for the federal building under construction at Broadway; The Daily Republican newspaper and others recently wrote the architect requesting an entrance for the Fountain Street side, in addition to the Broadway entrance.
