The city of Cape Girardeau has agreed to share with County Assessor John L. Wescoat the cost of preparing personal tax assessments in the city in the new assessment year starting Jan. 1.

An announcement that an annual routine inspection had been made by the Coast Guard indicates that the ferryboat A.C. Jones, which served Cape Girardeau before traffic bridge was completed in 1928, is still operating at Helena, Ark.

75 years ago: Dec. 10, 1928

Cape Girardeau has virtually won its long fight for additional railroad facilities; The Interstate Commerce Commission has denied a petition by Frisco Railroad for a rehearing of an application by Missouri Pacific to build its lines into Cape Girardeau, and the original order, granting Mo-Pac authority to build its lines into Cape Girardeau, remains.

With the arrival of 600 birds and a number of poultrymen from Missouri and four other states, final arrangements are being made for Missouri Poultry Show, to be held at Houck Field House Tuesday to Saturday.
