City Councilman Al Spradling II yesterday announced his bid for re-election to another four-year term; Spradling and Lawrence Godfrey of 1732 Rampart were only candidates to file election petitions Wednesday, first day of filings.

Pilot project of Student Government at Southeast Missouri State University will provide students with evening child care on campus during spring semester; K.C. Martin, Student Government president, says day-care program is designed to serve parents who have night classes and need evening care for their children.

The Rev. Michael G. McBride, pastor of First Baptist Church, opens revival at church, that will continue through evening worship service on Nov. 14.

Notre Dame Boosters Club members have become home wreckers; club is tearing down house donated by Ralph Fuhrmann, 2319 Boulder Crest, and lumber recovered will be used to build props for Notre Dame High School's annual musical, saving school money for use on other needs.

50 years ago: Nov. 7, 1951

East Prairie - Two children perish and two others and their mother are seriously burned in fire which destroys Hubert Latham residence in Pinhook community, seven miles south of here; dead are Charles, 5, and Zachary, 3, a polio victim, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Latham; seriously burned are Bobby, 12, and Stella, 6 months old, and Mrs. Latham.

Southeast Missouri is recovering from snowstorm that delayed mail, halted highway traffic, snapped long distance telephone wires and halted all air flights; Highways 25 and 61, between Cape Girardeau and St. Louis, were blocked yesterday by stalled vehicles during first phase of storm, then opened late in day, only to close again in evening when water and slush turned to ice.

75 years ago: Nov. 7, 1926

Baptismal services are held in afternoon at Juden Creek on Bend Road north of Cape Girardeau for converts of revival meeting which closed last week at Red Star Baptist Church; eight people were converted during revival, which was conducted by pastor, the Rev. G.A. Crocker, and the Rev. W.E. Hicks, evangelist of Jonesboro, Ark.

Epworth Leaguers of Northern Methodist Church close their annual one-day meeting at Grace Methodist Church in evening by selecting new officers and deciding to hold 1927 meeting at Farmington; 120 members of organization attend meeting.
