ORAN, Mo. -- The towns of Oran and Chaffee, Mo., were plunged into darkness last night for more than an hour, when a vehicle struck a utility pole just north of Chaffee.

Thanksgiving Day. Various churches in the city hold appropriate religious services; a union service is held at Christ Evangelical Church under the auspices of the Ministerial Alliance, with the Rev. Ralph E. Weisser, pastor of the church, presiding.

The Central High Tigers take on the team from Soldan High School of St. Louis in a Turkey Day football game at Houck Stadium; the locals bury the visitors, 33-0.

100 years ago: Nov. 26, 1911

The Rev. Horace M. Siberell, for years a resident of Cape Girardeau, which he still claims as home, is up from Hickman, Ky., where he is the pastor of the Christian church.

Friday, the Most Rev. John J. Glennon, bishop of St. Louis, confirmed 80 candidates at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
