Despite an unrelenting downpour of rain through the final eight hours of voting that chilled and dampened the enthusiasm of hundreds of voters, Cape Girardeau County still set a record for number of votes cast in any election Tuesday; unofficially, the county's total vote will go to about 19,447 votes when absentee votes are counted.

The Cape Girardeau Central High School homecoming game against the Perryville (Mo.) Pirates, scheduled for tonight, has been postponed until Saturday night because of the wet grounds of Houck Stadium.

75 years ago: Nov. 10, 1935

A young minister delivers his first sermon in the evening at Red Star Baptist Church; Roy Winkler, who three weeks ago made the decision to go into the ministry, is the speaker.

American Legion posts of Southeast Missouri unite in Cape Girardeau for the annual convention of the 14th district of the Legion and to pay appropriate observance to the memory of the World War dead; the program begins with an afternoon parade and continues with a memorial service at State College auditorium; a business meeting, dinner and social hour are held in the evening at the Community Clubhouse in Fairground Park.

100 years ago: Nov. 10, 1910

I. Ben Miller of Cape Girardeau was elected treasurer of the Missouri Ice Cream Manufactures Association, when the 50 members met in St. Louis yesterday to talk ice cream and perfect the association's organization.

Jim Boden, the barber from Gordonville, has moved to Dutchtown, where he is employed removing whiskers in the city tonsorial parlor.
