Perryville - First Perry County man to be killed in Korea conflict is Pvt. Gilbert A. Wibbenmeyer, 26, who lost his life in action on Oct. 6; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wibbenmeyer, were notified of their son's death in message from Adjutant General's Office.
Arthur Job, living west of Cape Girardeau, has purchased Tom Lewis farm, adjoining the Job place, and his son, Albert "Bud" Job, will live on farm and operate it in general farming; J.B. Lewis has been living on farm, operating it as dairy production unit.
75 years ago: Oct. 26, 1926
Resolution asking Missouri Highway Commission to submit to voters of state a proposal to issue $100,000,000 in bonds for immediate completion of state highway system was presented to Rotary Club at its meeting at Hotel Idan-Ha last night; under rules of club, action on resolution will be delayed one week.
There are 28 cases of scarlet fever in Cape Girardeau, but no new cases have been reported since last Saturday, says Health Officer Lee Atchison; most of cases reported so far are among children living on south side of town; in addition to scarlet fever, there are two cases of diphtheria and two of typhoid fever within city limits.
