Cape Girardeau city crews have been painting handicapped parking symbols at several locations between 200 and 800 blocks of Broadway; parking, approved last month by city council, is designated by blue handicapped parking symbol on street and blue stripe along curb.

25 years ago: Oct. 15, 1977

Drury Restaurants has announced it will begin construction within few days of restaurant at northwest corner of William and Mount Auburn Road; building will house first of new chain to be known as "John Boy," catering to fast foods, such as hamburger, chili, roast beef sandwiches and fish during day hours, with pizza and tacos during evening hours.

Tamms, Ill. -- Although disappointed that Tamms area has been dropped from consideration as possible prison site, Tamms-Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce President Carl L. Hileman says he faults Alexander County Commissioners for not supporting prison bid.

50 years ago: Oct. 15, 1952

When new plants for manufacture of chlorophyll are built by National Chlorophyll and Chemical Co., effort will be made to get one in Southeast Missouri, says K.C. Servatius of Charleston; Servatius is district manager of national Alfalfa Dehydrating & Milling Co., parent company of chlorophyll concern; since principal source of chlorophyll is alfalfa meal, this district with its alfalfa field and mills already established to process it should have good opportunity for new plant.

Chaffee -- Word has been received from Department of Defense by Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Harrell that their son, Sgt. Charles H. Dunlap, has been missing in action since Oct. 6; he is member of Second Combat Engineers, Second Division.

75 years ago: Oct. 15, 1927

Annual Cape Fair will be given again in 1928, but will be held at least three weeks earlier than this year, Board of Directors of fair association decided yesterday; despite deficit which existed at close of this year's fair, due to unfavorable weather every day of big event, it was decided to immediately make plans for next exposition and to present it on much larger scale than ever before; tentative dates for 1928 edition are Sept. 6 to 9.

Long pass in last minute of play enabled McKendree College to defeat Cape Girardeau Teachers at Lebanon, Ill., yesterday by score of 13-9; both of McKendree's touchdowns resulted from passes in last quarter.
