St. Paul Lutheran Church at Jackson observes its annual Mission Sunday; guest speaker is the Rev. Alfred von Rohr Sauer of St. Louis; he is a professor at Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis.
Mrs. Mary E. Peerson, daughter of Mrs. Pat Williamson of Cape Girardeau, leaves for Lahore, Pakistan, where she has accepted a teaching position at an international school; she will be in charge of music in the junior-senior high school and will serve as supervisor for the upper elementary grades.
Westminster Presbyterian Church holds its first worship service in the morning in the manse at 1619 Oak Hills Dr.

Church history is made as delegates to the annual session of the St. Louis Conference of Methodist Episcopal Church, South, vote almost unanimously to ratify a proposed plan of unification with two other religious bodies: the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Protestant Methodist Church in America.
Nicholas J. LeGrand, 54, an employee of the Marquette Cement Mfg. Co., is seriously injured when he falls 22 feet off the base of a derrick at the Marquette coal-loading dock on the Mississippi River, landing on rip-rap stone placed on the river bank to prevent erosion.

Louis Graessle, formerly of Cape Girardeau, came down from St. Louis yesterday to spend a few days on business.
Contractor Herman Pape reports that he has completed the new home for Dick Berry in the north suburbs of the city, and that Berry will move in at once; he is also about finished with the construction of a home for Andrew Wields on North West End Boulevard, near the place he is building a home for himself.
