A Trade Day auction crowd Saturday shivered as it bid, buying 119 articles that included miscellaneous merchandise and livestock at the free auction held at Fairground Park; a crowd of 3,000 was on the grounds at the noon hour, when visitors to the city were fed cheese sandwiches and coffee.
Admiral Richard E. Byrd, the first to cross the North Pole by air, has been engaged to make two addresses in Cape Girardeau on Oct. 22, one to members of the Southeast Missouri Teachers Association and the other to the public.
As a climax to the protest raised by members of the University Methodist Episcopal Church South in St. Louis against the transfer of their pastor, the Rev. Ivan L. Holt, to Cape Girardeau, the resignations of members of the board of stewards are now in the hands of the new pastor, the Rev. S.H. Wainwright.
