Van Matre Buick will soon join the westward movement of car dealerships in Cape Girardeau; the Buick dealership, now at 20 S. Sprigg St., is planning to relocate to a new building on South Kingshighway in June; nine other major motor vehicle dealerships already are between the 600 and 800 block of South Kingshighway.
Fountainbleau Lodge, 2001 N. Kingshighway, officially opens a new 30-bed addition, which will allow the facility to accommodate all levels of nursing care for its residents.
Jackson's recently passed food sanitation ordinance is the first of its specific kind passed in Missouri; under the ordinance, restaurants will be graded according to sanitation and care in handling food.

Dr. Clifford L. Stanley assumes his new duties as rector of Christ Episcopal Church; he is a graduate of the University of Virginia, having completed his work there in 1924; the following year, he received his master's degree from the school; he graduated from the Virginia Theological Seminary in 1928.
In two more weeks, Sunday services of Grace Methodist Church should be returned to the church building; the new, three-story education addition is nearly completed, and dedication is set for Jan. 28.
Superintendent McCarty of the Frisco Railroad was here yesterday and delivered to the city clerk the official acceptance by the receivers for the road of the ordinance providing for the work to be done on the riverfront; this concludes the negotiations between the city and the Frisco, and the railroad company must now get busy with the improvements.
Joe Wing, the celebrated alfalfa man, opens the big Southeast Missouri corn show in the morning at the Normal School with a fine talk before a large crowd of farmers and students.
