Twelve men have been selected and notified to convene Monday afternoon as Cape Girardeau County's first grand jury in seven years; the jurors are D.D. Morton, Wilbert "Wib" Lohman, Garland Powell, Clarence Shirrell, Gilbert W. Logel, Maurice Lange, Billy M. Propst, Earl Oldham, Harry Heise, Dallas Bruhl, Allin Henderson, and Earl Drum.

Ground will be broken tomorrow at Westminster Presbyterian Church's 6 1/2-acre site at Cape Rock Drive and Perryville Road for the congregation's new education building.

Weather, freakishly warm, pounces on Cape Girardeau and the area with thunder, lightning and rain; temperatures soared yesterday to 66 degrees, and warm, southerly winds kept the mercury from falling below 53 degrees overnight.

At a meeting of members of the new County Court and WPA officials at Farmington, Mo., it is learned that unfinished WPA projects in the county, particularly rural roads outside the towns, will be completed.

1914

ORAN, Mo. -- William Oliver, who owns a large farm southwest of here, says there are fully 2,000 bushels of corn yet in the field; because of the continued rain, it has been almost impossible to gather the crop.

A delay of a week will likely be encountered before construction begins on the new building for the Albert-Meyer Grocer Co., across the street from the Frisco passenger station; W.S. Albert spends the day in St. Louis conferring with his partners in the company.
