Benjamin F. Lewis has joined the Cape Girardeau law firm of Richey, Price, Spaeth and Heisserer as an associate; Lewis attended Central High School and graduated magna cum laude from Southeast Missouri State University in 1977; he earned his law degree form the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1980; Lewis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis F. Lewis of Cape Girardeau.
Cape Communications Corp., owned by Tom and Judy Millburg, has begun construction of its new office building at 615 Broadview St., with Chuck Moutell Construction Co. as general contractor.
Mayor Walter H. Ford becomes the first candidate to file his petition with Verna Lee Landis, city clerk, for nomination at the city primary March 22; Ford files for the post he now fills on council appointment through a vacancy created in 1956 by the resignation of Narvol A. Randol.

Skiffs crossing the river are compelled to play "skip-loo" with the cakes of floating ice; no ferryboat is running here at the moment, the regular craft having been carried off by the ice in December.
