A grounds and building committee for Hillcrest Golf Course has been named; C.J. Strom is chairman, and other members are Jack Kilgore and Otto Vogt; the committee will plan for beautification of the grounds around the clubhouse and for remodeling part of the clubhouse.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- An interclass basketball game between girls' teams, played here last night as a preliminary to a conference contest, nearly broke up in a riot when small boys released 22 field mice on the gymnasium floor; pandemonium reigned among players until a referee restored order.

100 years ago: Jan. 12, 1910

Commercial Club president I.R. Kelso announces the creation of a committee that will confer with the sisters of Saint Francis Hospital and devise the means for raising $20,000 for a new hospital; the committee members are D.A. Glenn, J.H. Himmelberger, W.H. Bohnsack Jr., Dr. H.L. Cunningham and Dr. R.F. Wichterich.

M.E. Lesem, manager of Roth Tobacco Co., has just returned from a trip to St. Louis and other points where he has been introducing some of the new tobacco brands of the company.
