Missouri Health Facilities Committee has given approval to Southeast Missouri Hospital for a $1.8 million project that will introduce a cardiac catheterization laboratory; the procedure is new to the area and will complement the hospital's new cardiac surgery service.

The law firm of Richey, Price and Spaeth has announced the addition of John F. Heisserer as a partner in the firm, now to be known as Richey, Price, Spaeth and Heisserer.

50 years ago: March 26, 1959

Broad changes in the administrative base of the Cape Girardeau School District were adopted by the school board yesterday; three new administrative positions were created: a director of guidance, counseling and testing, a director of elementary curriculum and a director of general administration.

Appointment of Gerald B. Rowan, a member of the law firm of Oliver and Oliver and Cape Girardeau city attorney, as assistant counsel of the Kansas City Life Insurance Co. is announced; Rowan, his wife, their two children and Mrs. Rowan's mother, Mrs. Vivian Turner, will move to Kansas City before Sept. 1.

75 years ago: March 26, 1934

The Rotary Club votes an endorsement of the school bond issue; if voters approve the issue, a centrally located elementary school will be built; such a building would relieve the overcrowding at May Greene and Washington schools, and it would be within easy reach of children living downtown.

The John S. Cobb School boys basketball team won the championship of an invitational tournament held Saturday night at De Soto, Mo., defeating Charleston, Mo., in the finals, 29-20.

100 years ago: March 26, 1909

Robert Reed, who runs a sawmill four miles east of Jackson, was injured yesterday when he was struck in the right breast by a slab thrown with terrific force by the saw; he was seriously hurt.

Robert Gouge of the first-class battleship Minnesota is in Cape Girardeau on a 15-day furlough to visit friends, his vessel being laid up at the Navy yards at Norfolk, Va., for an overhaul; he has been in the Navy two years.
