Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Hente Sr. of Cape Girardeau celebrated their 50th anniversary May 24, 2003, with an open house at Cape First and a family dinner at My Daddy's Cheesecake Media Room.

Guests attended from Cape Girardeau, Dudley, Bloomfield, Chaffee, Oran, Stafford, Webster Groves and Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Okla.

Hente and Madline Bess were married May 24, 1953, by the Rev. Floyd Heady. Matron of honor was Jeweldine Lindy of Webster Groves, Mo., sister of the bride. Best man was the late Charles Lindy Jr.

Hente retired from Missouri Highway Patrol as a driver examiner supervisor, and from Missouri National Guard as personnel supervisor. Mrs. Hente is retired from JCPenney. They are members of Cape First.

The couple has a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Patty Hente Jr. of Cape Girardeau. They have three grandchildren, Brooks and Dustin Hente of Cape Girardeau and Amanda Hente of Jackson.
