Bob and Pat Compas of Cape Girardeau celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 3, 2016, with a party for family and friends hosted by their daughters in the Huels Room at St. Mary Cathedral.

Compas and the former Patricia Bohnert were married Sept. 3, 1966, at Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church. The Rev. Wendlin J. Dunker performed the ceremony. Their attendants were Rosemary (Leroy) Dreyer; Marilyn (Jim) Poston; Carole Arnzen; Carolyn (Bill) Bohnert, sister-in-law of the bride; David (Peggy) Compas and Paul (Sandy) Compas, brothers of the groom; and Ronald (Tad) Bohnert and Bill (Carolyn) Bohnert, brothers of the bride.

The couple has three children, Christy (Mark) Sprengel of Jackson; Shelley Compas of Grassy, Missouri; and Cathie (Tony) Funderburg of Freeburg, Illinois. The couple also has six grandchildren, Megan Sprengel, Luke Sprengel, Jacob Compas, Landon Funderburg, Will Funderburg and Nolan Funderburg.
