Mr. and Mrs. Emil Brase of Jackson were honored on Feb. 22, with a dinner at Holiday Inn in Cape Girardeau in recognition of their 60th wedding anniversary and Emil's birthday. Their son, John Brase of St. Louis, Mo., sponsored the event.

Relatives and friends from Palmyra, St. Louis, Cape Girardeau, Gordonville, and Jackson were present for the dinner.

The Brases were married Feb. 25, 1943, by the Rev. Bill Meyer at New McKendree Methodist Church in Jackson. They spent most of their married life in Jackson except for the years Emil spent in the Navy during World War II.

The Brases are both retired school teachers. Evelyn taught 41 years in the elementary grades at Delta and Jackson. Emil taught 44 years, teaching physical education and coaching boys basketball at Delta and Jackson. He also assisted with the girls basketball program at Jackson for several years. After retiring, he continues coaching sixth, seventh and eighth grade girls basketball at St. Paul Lutheran School in Jackson.
